TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

Senate Square

The Senate Square and its surroundings form a unique and cohesive example of Neoclassical architecture, dating back to early 19th century.

The square is dominated by four buildings designed by Carl Ludvig Engel; the Helsinki Cathedral, the Government Palace, the main building of the University of Helsinki and the National Library of Finland.

Kappeli

Kappeli is one of the oldest and most famous venues in Helsinki. Hampus Dahlström designed the original building; opening date was 1867.

Being the meeting place of the famous Finnish artists such as Aho, Järnefelt, Leino, Sibelius and Gallen-Kallela, Kappeli was a place with great examples of fine art on its walls.

Uspenski

With its golden cupolas and redbrick facade, The Uspenski Cathedral is one of the clearest symbols of the Russian impact on Finnish history.

It was designed by Aleksei M. Gornostajev and consecrated in 1868. It is the largest Orthodox temple in Northern and Western Europe.
